Before becoming psychotherapists, David and Janina Tiner were medical practitioners. Their story began when they met and married while David was in dental school and Janina was a nursing student at UT Memphis. After almost 20 years in dentistry and intensive care nursing, they chose to pursue their shared passion to help others find holistic healing through counseling.

David and Janina received their Master’s degrees in Marriage and Family Therapy (MMFT) from Trevecca Nazarene University and run a private counseling practice in Brentwood, Tennessee. Both have additional advanced training to skillfully support clients through a variety of presenting issues. All therapeutic approaches are filtered through a Judeo-Christian lens.

While David and Janina each have areas of therapeutic specialty, they often work together with a client or a couple to bring their complimentary approaches to bear.  In large group settings, they lead workshops and teach classes.  They have developed two courses on marriage relationships: Go the Distance and Compassionate Connectedness: Staying Connected to your Spouse Through Your Marriage.  Janina and David were the featured speakers at a marriage conference in Barquisimeto, Venezuela, and presenters during Lipscomb University’s Summer Celebration Lectureship Series in 2012 and at the Pepperdine Bible Lectureship in 2013.

Married for 41 years, Janina and David have three adult children.
